e.surv Chartered Surveyors says that despite the awful weather conditions, its service to clients has continued uninterrupted. The business has over 350 surveyors operating throughout the country, with its main operating centre in Kettering, Northamptonshire coordinating activity.

It says the business’ decentralized structure is designed to continue with one or more regional operational centres out of action. With a large proportion of home based surveyors and admin staff, appointments can be booked, reports signed off and queries dealt with by surveyors and other staff, even when at home, snow bound.

Richard Sexton, director of business development said: "We have provisions in place for severe weather and other scenarios and our arrangements for this contingency have been tested and swung into action extremely smoothly. Our clients need reliability and above all to be kept informed. Whilst there will be inevitably be some requirement to rearrange appointments in the worst hit areas, we remain fully operational and open for  business, ready to report and update to our lender clients as required."

The business also points out that poor weather can be a time when deficiencies in a property become all too apparent and this serves as a reminder of the value of obtaining detailed surveys at the time of any considered purchase. For homeowners, now is an ideal time to spot leaking gutters and inadequate loft insulation.

Sexton said: "Homeowners should also be preparing for when any thaw comes and taking action to monitor water courses for potential flooding threats."
